This role is a foundational technical hire and will work directly with product and engineering leaders with deep experience from companies like Microsoft, Amazon, and OpenAI.
Job description
The Backend Application Engineer will be responsible for building the foundational service layer of the NeuroVolt platform. This includes designing and implementing secure APIs, managing persistent memory storage systems, handling user auth flows, and supporting realtime agent interactions. You will not work on AI model pipelines; your focus will be on performance, scalability, and backend reliability to support AI integrations. The role includes API architecture, database design, and production-grade infrastructure development.
Key Roles and Responsibilities:
Work with stakeholders to define backend service requirements and technical specifications.
Design, build, and maintain RESTful or GraphQL APIs to support app, memory, and agent services.
Implement secure user authentication, session state management, and role-based permissions.
Manage data models, indexing, and storage layers (PostgreSQL or equivalent).
Optimize backend systems for latency and scalability under load.
Write unit and integration tests to ensure backend reliability.
Support deployment pipelines, observability tooling, and incident resolution.
Qualifications:
Senior-level backend engineer with at least 5 years of experience in:
C# and .NET Core (or Go, Python, Node.js backend equivalents)
Designing and implementing secure API services
Relational databases (PostgreSQL, MySQL, or MSSQL)
Auth systems, permissions models, and session architecture
CI/CD systems and cloud deployment (e.g., Docker, Azure, AWS, GCP)
Education:
Preferred Bachelor's of Science degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Applied Science, Electrical Engineering, or Math; Developer nanodegree; or equivalent experience.
