Job description

The Android & iOS Developer will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining high-quality Android applications that must scale rapidly to billions of users. This role involves collaboration with cross-functional teams to deliver new features, ensuring a value adding user experience and optimizing application performance. The developer will also implement robust testing and will contribute to the thought leadership behind our app development.

Responsibilities

  • Code, test, implement, and design of software applications to meet functional and technical requirements

  • Manage projects from concept to deployment to ensure high standards of performance, reliability, and usability

  • Contribute ideas and help to refine use cases and acceptance criteria

  • Evaluate new libraries, frameworks, and services for suitability

  • Collaborate with backend developers and designers to integrate APIs and data sources for seamless communication between the Android apps and servers

  • Continuously optimize application performance and responsiveness

  • Maintain critical problem-solving skills by troubleshooting and ideating innovative solutions to technical issues and/or bugs

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a similar field

  • 2+ years of experience with native app development using Kotlin, Java, Android SDK, Gradle, and Android Studio.

  • 4+ years of experience of professional software development

  • Solid understanding of Android Studio and the Android SDK

  • Knowledge of mobile app architecture patterns (e.g. MVVM, MVP, etc.)

  • Participated in the development and release of a publicly available app to Google Play using automated tooling like Jenkins, Gradle, and Google Developer APIs

  • Working knowledge of RESTful services

  • Strong understanding of the Android SDK, including UI design principles, layout constraints, and material design guidelines

  • Strong problem-solving and debugging skills

  • Demonstrated success in Android App development with a strong portfolio of past projects or published applications

Salary Range: Based on experience
